Anyone who takes the time to read this blog probably already knows our “origin story,” but I wanted to fill in the fancy menu up top and an origins page seemed like a good way to do that. SO a very abbreviated account of our beginnings:
FIRST COMES LOVE: Jeff and I met on the Southern Virginia University track team in January 2005. He dated pretty much every female runner at the school (including my roommate) before asking me out for Valentine’s Day in 2006. Five months later, Jeff proposed and five months after that, we became Mr. and Mrs. White.
THEN COMES MARRIAGE: We were married in the Nauvoo, Illinois LDS Temple on December 20, 2006. It was cold, dark, and rainy, but true love transcends gloomy Illinois winter weather! After a semester spent backpacking around Europe together, we both graduated from SVU in May of 2008 (our diplomas are dated December 2007) and embarked on a job hunt that ultimately landed us at grad school in Walla Walla, Washington, where Jeff earned his master’s in teaching degree and I birthed a baby.
THEN THE FUN BEGINS! After some bouncing around eastern Washington, we settled in Sunnyside, WA, which is nearly as lovely as it sounds. Jeff teaches French and coaches cross country, boys swim, and track at Sunnyside High School. I coach high school cross country, middle school track, and run the White house.
Our kids are much bigger now than when these pictures were taken, but I love these sweet pictures, so they are here to stay.
THE BLOG: Back in 2007 when noncommercial personal blogs were all the rage, my older sister persuaded me to start a blog, which I did somewhat reluctantly. While I was sitting at the computer puzzling over what to name the blog, Jeff made one suggestion: Where the White Things Are. The name stuck. Also of note: blogging started as a dutiful way for us to share pictures from our 3 month adventure in Europe. As the years rolled by, however, I started enjoying transforming our everyday into [hopefully] witty words more and more. Now it has become a family archive of organized memories.
