On the run again

That’s right, I’m on the RUN again! I went on my FIRST run in nearly 10 months this Thursday (on St. Patrick’s Day, as planned). I’d like to say that I felt great, but since it’s been 273 days since my last run, it’ll be a few weeks (or months?) before running will feel great again! I ran for 20 minutes, and covered roughly 2 1/4 miles. That was faster and farther than I thought I’d be able to go—yay! Currently, I am sore in places that I didn’t realize were even necessary for running. But, running is how I “find my center.” I already feel more “at peace” and more like my NORMAL self than I’ve felt in 273 days! I love it.

Even though my legs were aching and my lungs were gasping after the first 5 minutes of my first run, it was still invigorating to go out in the crisp, sunny spring morning and breathe lots of fresh air! My snot rockets caught the sunlight and glistened in shimmery golden arcs toward the ground. No dogs chased me (miraculously). My new shoes felt comfy. The dew sparkled on the grass. The morning was still and peaceful. So even though running didn’t feel all that great, going on a run sure DID!

Ah, yes, those glistening snot rockets... :-) Those are the details that make it feel real!!

You know, I think how you felt running again was how I felt playing the piano again after two years of having very limited piano access. Isn't it great to get back into something that makes you feel so good?

I'm with this Alisha girl. I'm "training" and you're already faster than me. You're awesome. How are you liking your Frees? Aren't they great?

Also, to answer your question, yes I'm totally an all natural girl when it comes to birth. I wasn't that way with Jayden and Ryleigh, but this time around I really had a lot of opinions on how I wanted to birth my own baby, so I had a whole birth plan and everything. I didn't have an IV, I didn't have medication, I just showed up, did it on my own and walked out of there 12 hours later. It was the most awesome experience ever!

I still remember asking you to do snot rocket demonstrations for our new runners at SVU. You're hilarious and you make cute babies!!
