Jay's Cool Things

Jay decided that he wanted to start his own blog this week. We recently finished reading the Shredderman series by Wendelin Van Draanen and Jay has been doing keyboard typing practice during computer lab at school. Those two events combined in his sharp brain and came out as the desire to have his own website. That is SO MUCH BETTER than the last time various external ideas combined in his mind and came out as play pranks on the mother! Jay is such a thinker, and he wants to explore new ideas and try things he reads and learns about. A blog seemed like a great way for him to do that. So this afternoon, I helped him launch his very own blog, which he named Jay's Cool Things. He has ideas for all these different "tabs" that he wants to put on it and everything. I wonder how long he will want to keep it going, and I can't help but hope he will work on his blog for a long time. What a unique insight into his mind this will be if he continues with it! It'll also be great practice for his writing and typing skills.

Jay's first post can be found at:

I'm excited to see what he writes next!

Speaking of blogs, Blogger tells me that this post right here is the 900th post that I have done on Where the White Things Are. Nine hundred blog posts in nine years.

 MAC NIGHT=HAPPY KIDS!

Watching an evening episode of Magic Schoolbus. Amber adores this show better than Sesame Street and she calls it "Beep Beep" because that's the sound the school bus makes in the cartoon. Maybe she'll be a scientist one day because of it. I can't fault an educational cartoon! Every time Amber sees a school bus or hears someone say the word "school bus," she says "beep beep!" It's kind of like playing Marco Polo and we love testing her limits by whispering "school bus" or singing it or saying it across the room. She nearly always catches us and responds in kind with "beep beep!"

All ready for school! Not pictured: the carnage and agony it took to get to this point, haha. These kids are looking quite grown up. I'm glad they still make funny faces at the camera.

Library date! And an epic-ly bad pair of selfies at the end of it! hah!
