When I asked Jeff what he wanted to do on his actual birthday, he thought for a while and then decided that he wanted to go on a long run and then stay home with his family. So we did. Jeff ran to Grandview that morning while Jay rode his bike alongside for the first time. It was Jay's longest bike ride ever by four miles. I wish I had a picture. When Jay was safely parked at Grampa Dan's house, Jeff added on and ran an extra 3.1 miles, rounding the total distance out to a birthday half marathon. Then he feasted on his father's Saturday morning pancakes along with the kids and some missionaries. I did not partake of pancakes so I could run the ten miles back to Sunnyside. We spent the rest of Jeff's birthday hanging out at home, playing computer games and relaxing together.
On Sunday evening, we had all of the local White family members over for birthday dinner round three. We had crock pot pulled pork and ate in the shady front yard with kids frolicking all around.
Brownies and ice cream: always Jeff's version of birthday cake. I made a perfect pan of brownies: I followed the directions on the box for 2 Ghiradelli triple chocolate brownie mixes, and baked them at 325 for 44 minutes. Decadent delight.
During my run on Jeff's birthday, I paid homage to Sunnyside's patron saint, St. Tacos (aka street tacos), with a commemorative selfie. This sign had been cracking me up for weeks, and it was fun to finally take a picture of it.
Three voices: "open mine first, Daddy!" Rose gave him socks, Amber gave him shorts, and Jay gave him Oreos. I gave him four labor-intensive homemade from scratch mushroom bacon pizzas. He gave himself a new computer monitor. 37 is glamorous.
White family dinner on Sunday: cousins on the trampoline.
These girls sure love their Grampa Dan.
A taste of Jeff's awesomeness: This week he climbed out the basement window to weed the odd greenhouse that's attached to the side of the house.
