My Mom

My dear Mom visited on Friday! She drove down from Seattle and stayed for 5-6 hours before driving home. While she was here, I tried my best not to think about how sad it was that this was her last drive-down from Seattle, since she and my Dad are moving to Denver in a few weeks. She brought me pretty flowers, a homemade birthday cheesecake threee weeks early (since she will be in Denver on my actual birthday), and lots of other yummy foods. She's a genius at feeding my weird stomach. It was SO nice to have my mom visit, especially without all of my children stealing her attention the whole time. I must be a rather selfish second child, because I treasure alone time with my Mom so much!

We went on a small stroll around the countryside "out back" while Amber played in the dirt and threw rocks into the canal. Then we took Amber to preschool and went out to lunch together, just the two of us. Sunnyside has one or two little cafes that are suitable for a tasty lunch bite, and we chose Bon Vino's. I love their spinach bacon salad and shoestring fries. After lunch we went back to my house for a short while. We took pictures in the pretty yellow leaves in our front yard. Then it was time to pick Amber up and go to cross country practice. My Mom took Amber home while I went to cross country practice. So Grama Meri was there when Jay and Rose got home from school, and they basked in some of her love and attention too before she had to leave. When Jeff and I got home from cross country practice, we found my mom and the kids in the front yard playing in the yellow leaves. It was such a happy autumnal sight.

My Mom is the dearest mom of all time! I love her beautiful kindred spirit with all my heart.

They made a pile of leaves to jump into off of the trampoline.

Amber lost most of the leaves in her armful as she ran across the lawn to deposit her leaves in the pile.

A quick goodbye-we-love-you grandkids picture.

We love Grama Meri//my Mom!
