Red, WHITE, and Blue

We’re so glad to be a part of this great country. On the 4th of July this year, we enjoyed the annual town flag raising ceremony in the morning, hosted a family BBQ dinner, did sparklers, and saw a few fireworks from our porch. It was a nice day to celebrate being American.

It didn’t get dark till a good 3 hours after these kids’ bed time, so we tried doing sparklers in the daylight. Either we didn’t get very good ones or they really do look much brighter in the dark. Whatever the reason, our sparklers were kind of feeble. Los niños still liked them.

Jay kept saying “Angel Moroni!” and holding his sparkler up high.

Doesn’t this just make you want to switch to cloth diapers?

After a glorious sunset blocked only by Mt. Adams, we heard and saw (but mostly heard) plenty of people’s private fireworks from our porch and windows. The full moon rose all large and orangey amidst the rocket’s pink glare, and there was no way my limited photographical abilities were going to capture that one. So I just enjoyed the moment and then went to bed.

Happy Independence Day!
