Jay started IT early Tuesday morning.
I got IT Wednesday night. Rose and Jeff caught IT Thursday morning. What is IT? Who knows. Whatever IT was ravaged through our little family this week, leaving us all weak and thirsty. [side note: I felt bad taking this picture of Jay when he felt yucky, but he’s cute even when he’s sick, so I couldn’t resist]
I won’t go into any of the unpleasant details, but the only reason this sickness was less awful than prego-shaina is because I knew it wouldn’t last for 5 months straight. This was the first time that Jeff and I were both pathetically ill at the same time, and it was hard not being able to lean on each other—a sympathetic glance [grimace] as we took turns in the bathroom was about all we could manage. I became quite dehydrated and consequently, Rose’s milk supply got very low. Scary, since she won’t take a bottle.
Rose had the mildest case, thankfully (maybe because her body is the smallest?) She only barfed once. And then she was a patient little angel laying on the floor by my chair calmly all day, squealing, squirming, playing, taking her own naps. Seriously, what did I do to deserve such a SWEET little girl?
Dear Steph (Jeff’s sister) kindly came and whisked Jay away on Thursday to spare him from the …carnage. Even though I knew it couldn’t possibly last 5 months or even 1 month for that matter, by Thursday night I was starting to feel DESPERATE (how did I make it through all those weeks of pregnancy again?) I ran through the list of things we did when I was so sick for all those weeks: prayers, the ER, my Mom’s expertise, and numerous priesthood blessings. There was clearly one thing that we needed!
Our newly organized ward hasn’t assigned home teachers yet, so we called around till we found two priesthood holders and asked them for blessings. Ty and Chad came over right away and gave us each a simple, beautiful blessing. All I can say is that the priesthood is REAL, and I am so thankful for it. Within an hour after they left, my feverishness and aches subsided enough for me to sleep at long last. By Friday morning, we were tender, tired, and thirsty, but HEALED!
This morning, we found out that Steph now has IT. Man I hope we didn’t give IT to anyone else.
This is one of the few blog posts that can NOT be improved by pictures. But then again, if the pictures are completely unrelated to the subject of the post, maybe I can salvage my photoverload blog style/reputation just a little…
When we went to Spokane last weekend, Jay had a good time climbing on Grampa Argyle’s 4-wheeler. Jeff had a good time playing with his fancy-schmancy camera lenses:
Let’s just say that sharing is usually caring, and leave it at that.
