Motherhood is sacred and beautiful. It’s also intense! Every day I feel blessed to be a part of it. I can hardly believe that I was able to bring three beautiful children into the world. How did I get so lucky? How did I get so blessed? A lot of times on Mother’s Day I cringe at clichés, over-done praises, or elevated expectations. But the idea of the day is the important part: honor those moms. Hug them. Talk to them. Show them appreciation.
I feel honored to BE a mother, and I honor my own dear mother as well. I could say the same things about my Mom as I say about my kids: how did I get so lucky? How did I get so blessed? [How do we not have a single normal picture of us together?]
Backyard flowers, homemade garland, and kindergarten art: simple and sweet, just the way I like it.
The middle line says “I love you more than Legos.” I can’t remember what the other two say, but that is compliment enough from Jay!
Rose drew a red heart and a smiley face in her card. She even wrote “Dear Mom Rose” on the outside.
Jeff made the garland.
These three. Hang on, are they all looking and smiling at the same time? It’s a Mother’s Day miracle!
Matching sister skirts! A skirt I made for myself a few years ago shrunk in the wash, so this week I cut it down and made Amber and Rose each a skirt out of it. I do have the occasional sewing success.
Sisters are the sweetest.
I asked Jeff to do the honors of taking the traditional Mother’s Day mom-kid-picture for me before church today. We told the kids to sit by me on the front steps and made the most of what happened. Here are the best ones:
I love being a mom! I love having a mom!
I love our odd pictures!
Happy Mother’s Day!
