Summer haircuts

Long hair is a pain, especially when it gets hot. While it's still cool in the mornings, it has been getting rather warm during the day lately. My hair is driving me crazy! After every baby I have had a hair crisis because the transition from pregnancy hair to normal hair takes forever and looks so weird in the process. My last two hair crises ended up with bad haircuts for me, so this time I promised myself I would wait till my hair normalizes before I do anything drastic. It's hard! I miss my pixie!

The kids played in water over the weekend and Rose's hair was a nightmare afterwords! Here's a quick photographic detour from the weekend waterworks:

I adore that lacy baby bonnet! Amber and Rose both looked darling in it.

This is what happens when a little girl grows three inches in a year but only gains three pounds. It's all in her legs! (last summer Rose on the right, current Rose on the left)

Like mother, like daughter I guess! I promise, both 8-year-old Shaina and Rose are completely healthy. We just have LEGS for days!
Ok, back to the haircuts.

Rose just had a professional trim a few weeks ago, but her hair is so long and fine, it tangles way too easily to survive a summer of swimming without serious combing agony. So I got out our haircutting kit and pulled a stool into the bathroom.

Before. My technique is this: snip, hack, oops, snip snip, oops, chop, snip...

After. It's so short and fluffy!

While I was at it, I buzzed Jay's hair too:

The bathroom was much messier than it looks, believe me. And this was yesterday morning before Jay went in to get his cast.

Meanwhile, Amber was rather moody, probably jealous that she still doesn't have enough hair for much of anything.

Lookin' good! All ready for summer. Two weeks till school is out.

We made a before and after collage with an app on my phone, just for fun.

I thought Amber wanted in on the photo action...

...but I may have been wrong.

These three.
